Answer: If you use our songwriting and demo production services, we know our songs are strong and produced to an exceptionally high standard. All our producers know what we are looking for. If you have the talent, the producer is allowed to bypass the demo reviewer to recommend suitable candidates directly to the A&R and Showcase Team who will then decide wether you are a suitable canditate for the Showcase.

This can speed up the review process considerably as our poor reviewer is often innundated with demo's!

Answer: There are NO hidden fees or costs. We do NOT expect you to bring hoardes of friends or pre-sell tickets for our showcases. You are more than welcome to invite people to come along and if you do they will have to pay the admission fee, however, it is NOT compulsory to bring a crowd and you will NOT incur any fees or charges if none of your pals turn up!

The venue upstairs is small and intimate so we do not run a Guest List. It has been kindly supplied to us by the owner who is also in the music industry so we have no need to 'fleece' performers by charging them to appear on our Showcase.

Our main goal is to find artists for our label and earn our reputation as a great showcase venue where other A&R can also find YOU.

Of course we have to cover our costs and pay our staff so if you DO invite friends to come along and support you it will be appreciated!

Answer: NO! You do not have to be a client or use any of our services to submit your demo for showcase or signing consideration.

Answer: Don't Panic!!! Our experienced songwriters and producers have a catalogue of original commercially attractive songs that record labels WANT to hear. We can provide you with a great demo original song to send to A&R plus a backing track licensed for use at Showcases and Performances!

Wether you want a fresh new song written from scratch by our upcoming associates or a highly produced master quality song written and produced by one of our charting music producers, we have a solution for you.

Answer: Have a look at the testimonials page and listen to our samples. Our producers' experience will dramatically improve your song.

Answer: Normally one long day, but the time varies from song to song. We'll take as much time as we need to finish the production of your song to our high standard. Therefore it could take up to three days of work.

Answer: Normally record labels listen to presentations with two-three songs which give them a general idea of the artist but in the end all you need is one.... the right one! This is what could make the director of the record label interested in signing you and paying the rest of the expences for you.

Answer: The following is a copy of the agreement we have ready to sign at the showcase but you may supply us your own and word it how you wish:

I/We (artist name/s) of (act/band name if applicable) give our permission to record our performance of original works at Moi Music Group Showcase and for said recording to be used for the following non-profit, promotional purposes ONLY:

1. Short audio or video snippets of our recorded performance may be used on Moi Music Group website to promote the Moi Showcase.

2. Full audio or video tracks may be used on a non-commercial CD or other format for provision to A&R or other personell in the music industry who may be interested in signing our act/band.

3. Full audio or video tracks which are under consideration for use on a 'Best of Moi Showcase' compilation CD to be made available to the public must have our prior permission of use before addition.

4. Moi Music Group Showcase agree that they will not use our works or any derivative, sample or part of our music or lyrics in a commercial release without our prior agreement which is not given in this permission to record.

5. Full tracks may be used for educational or demonstration purposes during seminars on songwriting, arranging and music production. This would include discussion of the song structure and may include a demonstration of song restructuring. (Please Note: this latter section only applies to acts/bands who wish to attend our seminar/s and receive feedback on their tracks).

We retain all rights to our original works including lyrics and music which may not be used for commercial purposes without our express permission.

Answer: There are lots of free Open Mic, floorspots and jam sessions where you can practice your performance skills and test out your songs on an impartial audience.

Our host venue The Perseverance also has a weekly Open Mic night which you can pop along to: Original Perseverance Sessions every Monday. Starts at 8pm, sign up at 7.30pm.

(Please note Moi Music Group and Moi Showcase are not connected to this independently run Open Mic Night).

Answer: Absolutely NOT! We do not believe in 'Pay to Play'.

There are NO admission or other fees to artists who are invited and pre-booked to appear on our showcase.

We will NOT charge you to use our P.A. which will be operated by our sound engineer or host.

However, we do have to cover our costs so if you turn up as a guest just to check out the showcase or come along to support a friend you will be charged the usual admittance fee. We do not have a guest list or provide 'open' floorspots so don't expect to just turn up and perform!

Answer: You will be required to perform between 3 to 5 songs (approx 15 to 25 minutes) depending on how many acts are booked. Artists with only one or two original songs 'may' be considered if the standard is high enough. Our aim is to concentrate on quality so we will have no more than 4 to 6 artists (maximum) appearing at each showcase.

Answer: Yes! Although we do NOT allow Cover songs to be submitted for showcase or signing consideration, we run an online competition where anyone can submit a link to their music. Every month we will choose who in our opinion is the best singer/atists singing a cover song who will win a free demo recording and, if they meet our high standards will be invited to appear on one of our showcases.

Visitors are also encouraged to rate the singer/performers music by clicking on the 'rate' button in the topic post containing the link to their singing. Only rate the singer/vocal groups you like!

Answer: Your demo initially goes to our demo reviewers who weed out anything that fails to meet our high standards. If your demo meets our criteria, it will then be forwarded to the Showcase A& R Team who will decide wether or not you qualify for a floorspot and contact you if successful to arrange dates and discuss details (we will need to know in advance if you require extra microphones, stands etc.,).

Our record labels A&R have high standards and so do we. The showcases are provided for artists who are dedicated to their musical career so a poor demo or inexperienced beginners just won't cut it. Our 'double check' process ensures that our experienced team will eliminate unsuitable acts and encourage real musicians with real talent to emerge.

One of our Team will be at the Showcase to see how you get on in a live setting. If they like your performance and feel you have signing potential, you will be contacted again and invited to appear on our 'Best of Moi Star Showcase' which will be attended by our record label signing team and/or guests from within the music industry who are also seeking Artists/Bands for signing.

Answer: We are looking for both 'ready to go' artists in a wide range of genres with great strong songs and potential, plus 'in development' artists with exceptional talent and attitude who will be suitable for songs written and produced by our music production service to be paid for by the record label.

There are no real limits to the style of music so don't be put off by the fact that we require an 'acoustic' or 'semi-acoustic' performances at our showcases. We have very eclectic musical tastes which include everything from classical to pop, jazz to heavy metal so will listen to anything original from musically competant writers and talented performers.

Answer: You still own all copyrights on your original material. We own the mechanical recording rights to our recording. Even with advance permission for allowing us to record you at the Showcase and use of our recordings to promote YOU on our site and to A&R. We will NOT publicly release your performance or songs on CD for sale without contacting you in advance for permission.

Please also note that we need permission from all parties involved, so if your act/band has several members and/or co-writers who will be appearing on the Showcase they all have to agree. (If we do decide to produce a public release in a compilation we may sign you to our record label).

Essentially we want you to know in advance that recording is a possibility and with your agreement, will be used to promote you and our showcases.

Answer: All to often, a singer who performs a cover song will be compared to the original artist even when they make a deliberate attempt NOT to sound like them. We want to hear YOUR natural voice, style and technique.

We do provide alternative options for singers and musicians who do not write their own material in the form of competitions where they may submit their link to their music online to win a free original song demo recording and by supplying songwriting and demo production services at competative rates!

Answer: When a record label offer a development deal, it pays for all the expenses but before you can get a deal you will need to have a demo for the labels to hear. If they cannot hear you, they will not consider you for signing!

If our Production Company decides to work with you, this already means that we believe in you and in your music and will work hard to give you the best professional presentation and product to assist you in finding the record deal that you deserve.

Answer: Some of our Showcases will be recorded for promotional purposes. We will use snippets from the best performances (NOT full tracks) on our site to promote Moi Showcase and the artists who have performed on the showcase.

In the unlikely event that one of our team are unable to attend, we may record the evening to ensure that they will still get to hear how you perform live. The recording will be accompanied by feedback on your performance from our experienced Showcase Staff.

We also have a wide number of friends and contacts in the music industry including charting music producers to independent and major record label A&R who we will be inviting to attend the showcases. We hope to produce an A&R sampler containing the very best of the artists who appear on Moi Showcase for distribution to those who are unable to attend or missed your performance.

As we do not have a 'set' schedule for recordings, we cannot guarantee that we can ask permission from you before we record, therefore, we need it in advance. You do not have to provide this until you are invited to appear on the showcase and if you prefer NOT to be recorded, we will arrange a date for you when we are certain that no recording will take place.

Answer: The first impression your music makes on a listener will either help your career or it won't! Every day, Record Companies, Radio Stations and Music Venues from around the globe receive thousands of recordings from artists looking for life-changing opportunities.

The only thing standing in their way is the quality of their music...

A good artist will stand out and be taken seriously only if they sound at least as good as their influences... which means that if you want to reach that level, you must turn your songs into great recordings.

Answer: No! We do not expect you to achieve the same high quality production on your demo. It will help if you have a great professionally produced demo, but if not then it should at least be of a reasonably good quality. What we mean by that is that the music and vocals should be clear. There should be no crackles, pops, drop outs. The musicianship should be of high standard as should the singers vocal ability. Your demo should not contain tracks which are poorly recorded or songs with poorly considered arrangements and song structure.

If in doubt, send us something simple with just keyboard or guitar and vocals. A good strong song and talent will stand up in any setting! Just make sure you can deliver the goods live!
